about

recorded 1989-10-26 at Stairways/Hamburg

The Stairways was a gloomy disco in the 80s in Hamburg's alternative 'Schanzenviertel'. Together with the pubs "Pickenpack" and "Zartbitter" it formed the so-called 'Bermuda Triangle' near the Reeperbahn. 'Abortive Gasp' were considered one of the three 'bunker bands' of the Schanzenviertel, along with 'Girls under Glass' and 'Cancer Barrack', regardless of their exact origins.

The "Stairways" club in Hamburg does not appear to be a well-known or historically significant establishment. It's possible that it was a local nightclub or bar in Hamburg, but it doesn't have the same level of recognition as some of the more famous music venues in the city, such as the Indra Club, Kaiserkeller, or the Star-Club. These venues are renowned for hosting early performances by The Beatles and other influential bands during the 1960s.
